DupDub Review: Best All-in-One AI Tool in 2024?

I was looking for an all-in-one AI tool that could replace the tools I use, and Piaff, one of our top content writers recommended Dupdub. He also asked me to test it out and write an honest review.

So I accepted the job, and used DupDub every day (for 18 days) to do pretty much everything: I wrote blog posts, generated AI voiceovers, edited videos, added subtitles, and so much more.

And I can now answer your question in this review: Is DupDub worth it? Should you use it or should you choose an alternative? (specific AI tools for various tools).

Let me answer that in this DupDub review.

Table of Contents

What is DupDub?

Overall, I give DupDub 4 stars out of 5.

DupDub is one of the best all-in-one AI tools in the market. I used it to produce voiceovers, edit videos, add AI subtitles, write content, and more. It’s definitely a tool worth considering if you are tired of jumping between multiple AI tools and want one that does it all.

There were some minor problems, like the lack of more human-like voices and SEO features, but that doesn’t reduce the quality of this tool.

Here is one short AI voiceover I generated with DupDub, by the way. If you are fully hooked, keep reading this DupDub review to learn more.

What is DupDub?

DupDub is what you can call an all-in-one AI tool. If you’ve ever used a tool like Writesonic or ChatGPT, you’ve noticed that they mainly focus on written content. Yes, they can generate AI images, but they are mostly used for written text.

But DupDub is different.

It stands out as a suite of AI tools that perform various tasks and produce excellent content. For example, you can generate human-like voiceovers and animated avatars and even translate videos.

Do you want to write blog posts? Check.

Do you have zero experience in video editing and want an AI tool that performs this task? Check.

And if you can’t believe me, check the screenshot below that shows some of its AI tools. Keep reading because I’m going to test them shortly.

Who Should Use DupDub?

DupDub is for marketers, educators, YouTubers, podcasters, audiobook authors, and more.

For example, marketers can reach global audiences by translating and dubbing content into multiple languages. This can significantly improve sales performance. Educators, on the other hand, can use the transcription and screen recording features to sweeten the learning experience.

If you are a freelancer who provides various services to clients like, content writing, product descriptions, ai-generated videos, talking photos, etc, DupDub will work for you.

But if you are here reading this post, you are likely an online entrepreneur or launching an online business, like a blog or a YouTube channel. Should you use DupDub?

If you are launching a YouTube channel and want a voiceover tool, then DupDub will work for you. But if you are a blogger, it’s not the best choice.

DupDub Review: Key Features

Now that we know what DupDub is, what it does, and who should use it, let’s look at its core features. I will show you how I used these features to create various content types. We’ll also see the outputs and judge the quality together.

During my testing period, I swapped out my usual AI tools with DupDub. This included replacing ChatGPT for content writing, ElevenLabs for AI voiceover, Synthesia for AI avatar creation, and Descript for AI video editing.

So let’s see how DupDub compares and let’s start with the first feature: AI Writing

AI Writing

DupDub’s AI writing feature, powered by GPT, is designed to assist users in crafting a wide range of content styles, from video scripts and marketing pitches to creative stories and blog posts.

This feature can give you ideas on how to start writing, fix mistakes, and make your writing sound more interesting.

But let’s test it together by writing a blog post.

Click AI Writing from your DupDub dashboard. You can find it in the center.

After landing on the AI writing screen, I was confused. Unlike other AI writing tools like Writesonic or Jasper, this had voice features like speed, pitch, and pause. I mean, just look at the screenshot below from DupDub and compare it with Writesonic’s.

Screenshot from Writesonic:

Both provide different user experiences and DupDub should definitely put more effort here. It took me about five minutes to figure everything out because I wondered if I was using the right feature.

But it’s not fair to stop here.

The top section shows the various features to create AI voice-overs. You can change the speed, pitch, avatar, sound effects, and more. The bottom of the page allows you to see the number of characters and estimated duration of the voiceover.

But we are interested in the middle of the screen. That’s where we will write our content and let’s start with something easy like turning an idea into full text.

Generate Idea to Text

First, I will start by typing a prompt like:

Starting an online business with AI is

Next, I will click the + before the prompt and select ‘Continue Writing.’ This feature will ask the AI to generate a more complete idea.

The image below shows the generated content.

And here is a sample of the text:

Starting an online business with AI is an exciting and innovative venture that holds immense potential for growth and success. With artificial intelligence becoming increasingly sophisticated and accessible, entrepreneurs can harness its power to streamline operations, enhance customer experiences, and drive profitability. One of the key advantages of integrating AI into an online business is its ability to automate repetitive tasks. From customer service chatbots that can handle inquiries 24/7 to automated inventory management systems that optimize stock levels, AI can significantly reduce the need for manual intervention. This not only saves time and resources but also ensures efficiency and accuracy in business operations.

And when it’s done generating, I have options like to continue writing, make the text longer or shorter, try generating the text again, or discard the generated content.

Write a Complete Blog Post

Now, that’s a very basic usage and I want to up the game. And this time, I will write a blog post titled ‘How to Start an Online Business With AI in 2024?’

I will click the + sign again or click ‘Ask AI to Write.’ I will go to See More and choose ‘Blog Post.’

A new prompt section will open.

Write your post title next to the prompt and press the blue arrow ‘Enter’ on your keyboard.

DupDub will take a few seconds to write your article depending on its complexity. But here is the generated blog post:

And here is a sample of the blog post:

In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has revolutionized various industries, including e-commerce. With AI becoming increasingly sophisticated, it presents exciting opportunities for entrepreneurs looking to start an online business in 2024. By harnessing the power of AI, you can enhance customer experiences, streamline operations, and gain a competitive edge in the digital marketplace. In this blog post, we will guide you through the essential steps to get your AI-powered online business up and running.

1. Identify your business idea:

The first step in starting any online business is to identify a niche or product that aligns with your passion and expertise. Consider how AI can be integrated into your business idea to create unique value propositions. For example, you could develop an AI-powered chatbot for customer support or an intelligent recommendation system for personalized product suggestions.

Note: Check out this Google doc if you want to read the full output.

Now, this blog post is not bad, but it’s too short (560 words). I doubt it’ll satisfy my readers or clients. That’s where other features like ‘expanding’ come in handy.

For example, I will select the text under ‘1. Identify your business idea’ and click the pen icon.

Make sure your text is still highlighted when the options appear. Select ‘Make Longer.’

Now, the AI will expand this particular text, as you can see in the image below. You also have the option to replace the highlighted content with the new one or simply add the new content below. In this example, I will replace the old content.

I will now go ahead and expand the remaining sections of the post following the same steps above, and you can find the non-edited generated content here.

Now, the big question:

Is DupDub the best choice for writing blog posts?

My honest answer is no, DubDup is not good for writing long-form content like blog posts, and there are three important reasons.

1. You can quickly hit the character limit of 10,000 (between 1428 words and 2500 words), and you need to upgrade to the Professional plan to get 30,000 characters (between 4285 words and 7500 words).

This means you have to copy and paste your content into a doc several times to play within the character limit.

2. SEO is crucial when writing a blog post, and unfortunately, DupDub’s AI Writing tool doesn’t provide any feature that allows you to optimize your content. There is no plagiarism checker, keyword analysis, or a built-in SEO-optimization feature like Writesonic’s SEO Checker.

3. If your brand voice is important to you, DupDub will not fit you because there is no such option. And if you are a freelancer or an agency running many client projects, you will struggle to satisfy your clients.

Don’t get me wrong, the content generated by DupDub was good given it’s powered by ChatGPT. It also has good features like changing the tone (professional, casual, straightforward, etc), simplifying the language, translation, and fixing spelling and grammar.

But DupDub’s AI Writing feature is not meant for blog posts. Its primary purpose is to generate short-form content that you can turn into AI voiceovers.

If you want a dedicated AI tool for blog posts, I recommend using Jasper or Writesonic.

Other Written Content Formats (Email, Product Description, Social Media Content, etc)

Though DupDub doesn’t excel at writing blog posts, it’s incredibly powerful with short-form content.

I asked DupDup to write an email and here is the prompt I used:

Write a short email thanking a writer for the excellent content they recently wrote.

I like the output and professional tone.

Product Description

Next, I wrote a product description using the prompt below:

Write a detailed product description of a Fitness app that highlights its key features, benefits, and target audience. Maintain a formal tone throughout the description and use clear and concise language. Please ensure that the description is between 150-200 words and includes information about the app's functionality, user interface, exercise tracking capabilities, personalized workout plans, nutrition tracking, and any additional features that set it apart from other Fitness apps.

Here is the output, professional and engaging.

Social Media Content

For the social media content, I will go with a more technical and recent topic.

Write social media content about the new Samsung S24 Ultra.

I don’t like the content because it’s too wordy. Social media content must be short and easier to consume. Plus, the text is boring because there are no emojis. Finally, DupDub didn’t mention any specs, likely because the S24 Ultra is recent.

I cannot blame DupDub for not finding the latest info because most AI tools out there can’t do that either. So, let’s give it another chance.

Write a social media content about the Samsung S20 Ultra

The output is good, but again too wordy and has no emojis. But this time, it mentioned more specs, which is good.

But again, you can always improve the output by highlighting it and giving another prompt to DupDub. Here is a new result after asking it to shorten the output, mention more specs, and add emojis. The content is much better but still no emojis.

In comparison, here is a similar output from ChatGPT (GPT 3.5). It does the job so well.

In conclusion, if you are a business owner, freelancer, or agency that wants a tool for short-form content like emails or ad copy, DupDub does a good job. But if you focus on long-form content like blog posts, DupDub will not work. It’s better to use an alternative.

AI Voiceover (Text to Speech)

The next feature I want to cover is the AI Voiceover.

DupDub’s AI voiceover tool instantly converts your text into multiple artist-quality voiceovers, all in one file. With over 500 charming voiceovers ready to read your text in 600+ styles, you can make your videos more interesting and can help keep your viewers watching.

I mean, just listen to the AI voiceover I generated with DupDub below.

Sounds incredible, right?

But let’s fully test this text-to-speech feature new and see how good it is.

You can find the AI voiceover feature in the left panel or the middle.

Now, if you’ve read this DupDub review from the beginning, you will immediately notice that the interface is literally the one used to write content. Since you are already familiar with it, I will just use the content generated when reviewing the AI Writing feature. Again, you can it here

The top left section of the interface allows you to choose a voiceover. Click ‘More Voiceover’ to find all voices.

Now, let’s play with some of these settings. Go to ‘Language & Accent’ to choose your language. In this example, I will choose English.

I will then select ‘American’ accent.

Under ‘Quality,’ I will select Premium.’ This will let me use the best and most realistic AI voices only. Next, I will select Gender: Female and Age: Adults. I will leave Scenario and Style intact because I don’t want to restrict the output too much. But more about these two settings later.

Now, I’ve only got realistic voices to play with. To preview a voice, click on it and press the play button next to any style. And if you like a particular voice, press the heart icon to add it to your favorites.

I will select Sienna Doyle as the voice for this tutorial, and if you go to ‘Return to Voice Setting,’ you can change the speed and pitch. But I will leave the default settings for now. Click Confirm to start using the selected voice.

Next, click the Play button to start generating the voiceover. And once done, go to Export, choose the file type, and click Export to download the voiceover.

You can listen to the voiceover I generated below. Remember that I didn’t use any advanced settings to refine the audio. I recommend that you start a free trial of DupDub to test them.

Multiple AI Voiceovers

DupDub also allows you to add multiple voiceovers. Go to Multiple Voiceovers and click the avatar you want to change. You see the option to select a different voice. Once you are done selecting your voices, click the play button again to begin a new generation.

Here is my new voiceover. To be honest, this is incredibly beautiful and you can easily create podcasts or any engaging audio.

Now before we move to the next feature, I wanted to mention a very underrated setting in the DupDub AI Voiceover feature. And this setting is called ‘Pause Setting.’ You can define the pause duration (in milliseconds) for commas, periods, question marks, exclamations, and semicolons.

You can even set a duration between paragraphs.

This setting is so underrated and when used properly, it can change the whole audio quality. I encourage you to play with it till you find the right spot for a specific project.

What AI Voices Do I Recommend?

That’s a tough question given that DupDub has some cool voices. But if you want a female voice, I recommend Gemma and Abbey Brown.

For men’s voices, I recommend Matt Coyle and Toby White.

DupDub’s text-to-speech feature is so compact that it deserves a full article to cover it entirely. There are so many things to check like testing the 70 languages and accents, the emotions (like angry, whispering, excited, sad, etc), and other settings (like Add Pause, Alias, and Say As).

Feature-wise, DupDub is one of the best AI voice generators in the market. It only falls short in the quality of voices; there are only a few human-like voices.

But hey, this is just the beginning. I can’t to see what this all-in-one AI tool will offer in the future.

Should You Use an All-In-One AI Tool or a Niche AI Tool?

Here is what I believe is the right answer:

If a project requires a high level of specialization and the best possible performance in a particular area, a niche AI tool is likely the better choice. However, if the task requires a broader approach with diverse but less specialized needs, an all-in-one AI tool may be more appropriate and cost-effective.

Now that’s project-wise. How about improvement?

Keep in mind that specialized AI tools focus on one specific problem and continuously improve their tool to solve it. Thus, the tool quickly ranks among the best in its industry.

An all-in-one AI tool like DupDub, however, tends to solve many problems at once. Thus, the improvement might be slow. But a tool like PlayHT, for example, will release updates quickly.

Then the last point is pricing.

Using a single AI tool can be more cost-effective than purchasing several niche tools.

DupDub Review: Is It Worth It?

Yes, DupDub is worth it, especially if you are using it for audio and video-related content. During my test, I used DupDub to generate AI voiceovers and edit videos. It couldn’t produce optimized blog posts, but it did a pretty good job at writing short-form content like emails and ads.

I also like the high level of customization in the text-to-speech feature. The AI did a fantastic job of capturing the subtleties of human speech, like intonation and pacing. Although, I did notice it had a bit of trouble with some custom words, especially if there was punctuation involved. But honestly, that was a minor hiccup in an otherwise smooth experience.

In summary, DupDub is worth it for creating voiceovers, editing videos, voice cloning, and AI translation.
