I’ve recently had to attend several meetings for a company I provide services to, and one of the services I provide is to give detailed minutes of the meetings I moderate. I would’ve struggled to achieve my goals if not for Otter AI.

In this comprehensive Otter AI review, I’ll show you the features, pricing plans, integration, and user feedback to determine if Otter AI is indeed the best AI for transcribing meetings in 2024.

If you take lots of notes during meetings, need action items or key points, want clear meeting summaries, and seek high-level transcription accuracy, Otter AI is for you. Otter AI works with the most popular online meeting platforms like Zoom, Google Meets, and Microsoft Teams.

In summary, with its features, Otter AI can claim to be the best transcribing tool to use in 2024.

What is Otter and What Is It Used For? is an AI-powered voice meeting assistant that records and transcribes meetings, automatically takes notes, identifies key points and speakers, and even flags action items (key points).

Using Otter AI, you can also share your notes with others, even after the meeting is over. Moreover, you can find specific information quickly using Otter’s powerful search feature, and keep your notes organized with tags and folders.

You can certainly use one of the online meeting or chat platforms that Otter AI integrates with, like Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Slack.

Is safe to use?

Yes, Otter AI is safe to use. You can confirm that yourself by reading their privacy policy. True,  Otter does collect user data from you but it doesn’t collect the information you transcribe or attempt to store or read the media you upload onto their platform.

The type of information Otter AI takes from you (login data, account information, payment information, usage data) is not going to cause any harm to you. Otter is not interested in spying on its users.

Otter AI Review: Features

Transcription’s transcription offers an impressive range of transcription options for meetings, virtual events, audio/video files, and in-app private and voice recordings.

I had the chance to transcribe a few meetings and video recordings using Otter and it was quite smooth. Additionally you can edit them directly on Otter AI

Let me tell you more about the accuracy and time of transcription.

How Accurate is Otter?

So I put through its paces with a few recordings.

In clear audio with just one speaker, it was like a real-time stenographer, whipping out transcripts that were 95% accurate, maybe even 98%. Seriously impressive

I threw some background noise at it – think coffee shop chatter – and the accuracy dipped a bit, maybe 85-90%. Still usable, but you might need to do some light editing.

Multiple speakers? Things got trickier. Accents and crosstalk tripped it up, dropping accuracy down to 70-80%. It still captured the gist, but you’d definitely need to scrub through and fill in the blanks. 

So, overall, is a rockstar for clear, single-speaker recordings. For anything noisier or more complex, it’s still helpful but be prepared to do some polishing. Think of it as a super-fast note-taker who needs a little help proofreading sometimes.

Think about it this way.

Would you prefer to spend 4 hours transcribing a meeting instead of focusing on what brings you money?

As a business owner who wants to maximize profits, it’s better to choose Otter AI which has a 90% transcription accuracy.

How Long Does Otter AI Take to Transcribe?

For a 30-minute recording, you may have to wait up to 10 minutes for a transcription but the time is usually shorter. Unlike instant AI content generation, transcription isn’t immediate, but Otter is relatively quick.

For meeting transcription, you only get your transcription at the end of the meeting or when you stop the Otter AI companion. It doesn’t even take a minute for the transcribed text to be ready. The best way to use Otter is really during live meetings.

Meeting Recording’s meeting recording feature is user-friendly and straightforward. You can easily record meetings by entering a meeting link in the designated bar at the top right of your screen.

This function acts like a modern version of a tape recorder with AI capabilities, allowing you to capture and review meeting content effortlessly. Both the audio recording of the meeting and the transcription.

I tried this feature out and I was quite impressed. The audio was crystal clear. Even speaking in low tones doesn’t beat Otter AI’s recording feature.

Another great advantage is that surrounding noise was not captured but only the people interacting could be heard. This is AI at its best.

It is still advisable you ask anyone at your meetings to be audible enough since Otter AI of course cannot record and decipher gibberish.

Otter AI Review Meeting Recording

After you record your meeting, you can access it in your conversation. What will appear is the transcription and at the bottom, a media bar of the audio recording.

Meeting Summarizer

The meeting summarizer is an automatic feature that brings a summary in the form of highlights of the recordings. Be it an interview or a meeting it will be summarized into a few highlights.

The meeting summary can be shared with your team members for a brief overview of the meeting. You can export them to apps like Slack or directly email them to your teammates.

Chat Live With Otter

If you want to get specific data from your meetings, then you can work with the all-new Otter Chat.

This friendly AI can summarize, analyze, and tell you the atmosphere of the meeting. It’s also handy for automating tasks, like checking your schedule or letting you know if your team has shared documents or finalized contracts.

Otter Chat keeps you updated on everything happening in your Otter AI.

OtterPilot for More Sales

Otter AI Review: Integrations

To further streamline your workflow, Otter AI seamlessly integrates with popular productivity tools and platforms.

Otter AI integrates with Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams, allowing for automatic transcription during virtual meetings. Otter AI can also be integrated with note-taking apps like Evernote and Dropbox, enabling easy synchronization and organization of your transcripts.


This integration is most likely the most useful one to corporations – Zoom is the most popular meeting Platform. You can access this integration from the free plan, no need to pay for it and that is great!

If your Zoom account is on the free plan, you will not be able to use this integration. Per policy Otter AI can only be integrated into a Zoom account on a Basic (with credit card), Pro, Business, or Enterprise Plan.

You can however record meetings on Zoom without the integration by simply uploading the meeting link on Otter AI. But the integration and automation you can get with the integration is pricey.

This integration automatically saves transcription after recording is finished and saves them into your Otter account. You can also share live transcripts and highlights of your Zoom meetings and Webinars. 


Slack Intergration Otter AI Review

This is one of my favorite integrations since I love Slack and its convenient workspace. Now you can integrate Otter AI into your platform and have Otter directly in your team channels. 

Let Otter AI send you publications directly into a channel on Slack for all your team members to access live Otter notes and post-meeting summaries.

This is automation at its peak. Now when you record a meeting from your workplace the minutes will land in Slack without you even pressing a button. The amazing thing is that this integration is free!

Google Meet

Google is another integration that is free and really convenient. Link your Google account to Otter AI and it will be aware of the meetings you planned on Google Meet.

In one click, your Otter Pilot will be in your meeting and record and then transcribe it for you. If you want this to be automatic you can go to Apps>Meetings scroll down and toggle “Auto-join all meetings” on.

Microsoft Teams

Just as is the case with Google, integrate Otter into your contact and calendar on Microsoft Teams. Seamlessly record and transcribe your meetings with a click. Send the meeting note over to your contacts and workgroup.  


Dropbox integration in Otter is a premium feature, available only on subscription plans. By linking your Dropbox account to Otter, you can back up meeting transcripts directly to Dropbox, providing additional storage for your recordings.

This integration also streamlines working on audio or video recordings in Otter that are already stored in Dropbox, allowing you to fetch them directly into Otter without the need to download them first.

Chrome Extension

Access Otter AI anywhere on the web with the Chrome extension! You can transcribe recordings and take notes without keeping the Otter AI tab open. The extension works on popular meeting platforms like Zoom and Google Meet.

When you open a meeting URL, the Otter Extension pops up, asking to join and record. With OtterPilot on Zoom, live notes open in a new tab, and summaries are auto-shared. On Google Meet, summaries are automatic, but recording needs manual activation, and live notes appear in a small pop-up window.

Android and iOS App

Carry your meeting notes everywhere with you and on all your devices. The amazing thing is that you wouldn’t need to relearn how to use the app on any device because the interface is the same!

The app has the same features and capabilities on both iOS and Android as well as the web app. You can record, transcribe, and summarize just like you do on the web app. The only missing part is the Chrome extension.

The mobile apps work very well. Of course, its functionality may depend on your mobile performance but they generally run smoothly. After testing the recording function on them I can say the output is of the same quality as that of the web app.

Otter AI vs FireFlies AI: Which is Better?

This looks like a tough one to choose but it isn’t. Otter AI is a great app with a wide range of functionality. It makes transcription way easier and collaboration in the team seamless.

Fireflies AI has a wider range of features. It is a platform that makes your meeting analysis more in-depth with specific models of meeting recording. The use cases make recording meetings for every occasion special.

Otter AI is a great app but Fireflies is still a step ahead.

The accuracy of both is comparable but Fireflies AI has an edge with its multiple products and use cases.

GoTranscript offers a wide range of services, including transcription, translation, and captioning. With a global team of highly skilled transcriptionists, they are able to handle a high volume of work and deliver it within a short timeframe.
